Sanita Puspure finished fourth in her quarter final of the Women’s singles sculls at Eton Dornety and did not progress to the semi finals.
Drawn in a difficult heat which included two previous world champions, Puspure led early on and held on to third until just before the half way mark at which point she was battling for qualification with Genevra Stone.
Over the second half of the race, the American pulled away to finish in second place with Sweden Frida Svensson holding on to third – four seconds clear of Puspure as Miroslava Knapkova won by a clear margin.
Puspure clocked a time of 7:44.19. She will now go forward to the C final which will determine places 13-19 in the event.
