Team Ireland had a hero’s welcome reception yesterday first at the Mansion House for a Civic Reception by the Lord Mayor of Dublin. Some of the athletes present (including the 5 medal winners) appeared on a stage beside the Mansion House, to a large crowd of cheering people.
They were then taken to a Government reception for members of Ireland’s Olympic Team and their family and friends at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park in Dublin.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny greeted the athletes as they arrived.
Mr Kenny said the team had been “champions for the nation” and had given people many precious moments over the past fortnight.
