Conlan Secures Medal

August 7, 2012

Michael Conlan who can fight orthodox started with a southpaw stance against Nordine Oubaali.

The French man appeared to enjoy a slightly better round, unleashing some strong right leads and left hooks. However, the judges scored the round 5-5.

Oubaali’s work rate has been truly exceptional, but Conlan has counterpunched brilliantly. It’s delicately poised at 12-12 going into the final round.

Conlan’s high-tempo finish to the bout helped him win by 22-18 after taking the final round 10-6.

Conlan and Team Ireland are guaranteed at least a bronze medal. A proud evening witnessed by an enthusiastic Irish crowd and multi agency support from the IABA, OCI, ISC, and Department of Sport.
